How do I convert audio to text?

Upload the audio or video file, pick the main language (or leave it on Detect), confirm and wait. When the transcription is done you download it as .srt, .vtt or .txt.

Which formats can I upload?

Audio in MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC; video in MP4, MOV, WEBM and MKV. The limit is 5 GB per file, which covers recordings many hours long.

It's the same engine behind Cut.Pro's clip captions, and it returns punctuated, capitalised text. The real variable is the recording: a clear voice near the mic transcribes far better than a noisy room or people talking over each other.

Do I need to install anything?

No. You upload from the browser, the transcription runs on our servers, and the result shows up in your account.

Can I transcribe video too?

Yes, and without extracting the audio first. Upload the MP4 (or MOV, WEBM, MKV) and we use its audio track.

Can I use it for free?

Yes. The free plan is permanent and comes with 15 credits a month, which is 15 minutes of audio, and it never asks for a card. Run out and you either wait for the month to roll over or subscribe.

How long does it take?

Depends on the queue and the file — usually a few minutes. It runs on our servers, so close the tab if you want: the result waits for you in the transcription list.

What if the audio is bad?

A voice far from the mic, loud music over it and three people talking at once will hurt any automatic transcription, ours included. If there's no speech at all we mark it as "no speech" and give the credits back.

Can I fix the text afterwards?

You can. Tick "Include subtitles" when uploading and the file opens in the editor, where you can change the wording, the timing and the style before exporting.

Why the timestamps are the whole point

A transcript without timings is a block of text: you can read it, and that's where it ends. With a timestamp on every segment, the same file becomes subtitles that upload to YouTube already in sync, becomes search inside a two-hour interview, and becomes a captioned clip without anyone opening a timeline. That's why the default output here is .srt and .vtt rather than a .docx. It's the same engine that captions Cut.Pro clips every day, so the text comes back punctuated and capitalised, with names spelled the way people actually say them — slang included, which is where generic tools usually fall apart.
