Changing your plan: upgrades and downgrades
An upgrade takes effect immediately and charges the prorated difference. A downgrade only kicks in at the end of the cycle you already paid for.
Updated July 26, 2026You change plans in the subscription area of the studio. The two directions work quite differently.
Upgrade: effective immediately
Moving up is immediate. You pay only the prorated difference for the days left in the current cycle — the screen shows that amount before you confirm.
The moment you confirm, the new plan's credit package lands in full, and the credits you already had stay put.
If the charge for the difference isn't approved, the change is undone and you stay on the plan you had — you're not left in limbo and you don't lose what you paid.
Downgrade: takes effect at the end of the cycle
Moving down is scheduled for the end of the period you already paid for. There's no charge and no refund at the time: you keep everything from the current plan until the renewal date, and only then drop to the smaller plan.
Two consequences worth knowing:
- Workspace seats are reapplied at the switch. If the new plan holds fewer people, the excess members leave the workspace.
- Clips already generated keep the old deadline. If they were created with 30-day retention, they stay at 30 — a downgrade doesn't shorten what already exists.
Dropping to the Free plan is treated as a cancellation: see canceling your subscription.
When the change doesn't show in the app
Direct switching works for card subscriptions. In three cases it's blocked, and that isn't a bug:
- Subscriptions taken out in the mobile app (App Store or Google Play): the store handles the billing, so the plan change has to be made there.
- Pix Automático and installment card payments: they have no prorated switch. The route is to sign up for the new plan; when payment is by PIX, the unused portion of the previous plan is refunded automatically as soon as the new payment confirms.
If all you're missing is balance
Changing plans over one unusual month is usually overkill. If what ran out was credits and not features, buying extra credits solves it without touching your subscription.
