Your first clip, step by step
From pasted link to a clip ready to publish, without skipping a stage — and knowing what to expect at each one.
Updated July 26, 2026This is the full path, from nothing to a publishable clip. A few minutes of your time — the rest is waiting.
1. Submit the video
In the clipping area, paste the video link or upload a file from your computer. Stream VODs, podcasts, lessons, interviews: any long video with people talking. If you're not sure what's accepted, see which video sources work.
Before you confirm, CutPro shows how many credits that video will use. The cost follows the length of the video, not the number of clips generated.
2. Let it process
The video goes through download, transcription, analysis and clip assembly. You can close the page: the processing happens on the server and keeps going without you. When it's done, the clips show up on that submission's page.
If something fails along the way, the credits for that job go back to your balance automatically.
3. Review the clips
Watch the cuts and pick the ones worth keeping. Throwing some away is normal: the AI gives you options, the curation is still yours. On this screen you can select several clips at once to delete, download or apply a template to the whole batch.
Clips from a submission have a deadline: 7 days on the free plan, 30 days on paid plans. After that you have to run a new clipping job — which spends credits again — to get those cuts back. Download or export anything you want to keep.
4. Adjust in the editor
Open a clip in the editor to fix whatever needs fixing: subtitle text, styling, framing, start and end trim. If you already have a look you like, apply a template and the clip comes out in your identity.
5. Export or publish
When you export, the clip joins a render queue — it isn't ready the moment you click. You follow the progress on the Renders page and download when it finishes. If you'd rather publish straight from CutPro, connect your social accounts and schedule the post.
